FAQ
How long does it take to receive my order?
At Johnythecat Records we like to get sh*t done quickly, so we make an effort to pack and ship all orders within 48 hours 😺. Whenever we can’t fulfill this delay, we do our best to communicate with our clients.
Shipments go out from Monday to Friday. So if you place an order on a Thursday or on a Friday, it will get shipped the following week.
Generally speaking, for Quebec and Ontario, most deliveries take about 3-4 days from the date of the shipment. For the rest of Canada and the US, between 1 to 2 weeks.
If you’re doing the local pickup option, please wait until you receive a confirmation email that your order is ready. We still need time to prepare your records, check the gradings, and so on.
Do you ship outside Quebec?
Yes. We ship to the rest of Canada and to the US. You will see the shipment options and rates when you check out.
Do you have a physical store?
No. We run everything online.
Local pickup is available, but only for orders that have been already placed on the website. There’s no browsing of titles when you come pick up in person.
How does the Montreal Verdun Pickup work?
You checkout as usual as you still need to enter your billing details for accounting purposes.
Local pickup orders may still take up 48 hours to prepare. We have lots of orders to process and we’re only a team of 2, so please be patient. Wait until we contact you to arrange for the pickup date and time using the calendar tool.
Note: we can’t accept last minute additions or verbal orders that you haven’t completed through the website. At 1400+ records, it’s impossible to do manual inventory management.
The minimum order amount recommended for pickup is 25$.
Can you hold a record for me?
No holdings over DMs or email or phone, sorry.
To increase your chances of securing a record is to do checkout as soon as you see it.
Sometimes we have bugs with our system (e.g. two people checking out with the same record at the same time). In those cases we have to check the transaction time and go with the person who first placed the order.
To be fair to everyone and manage our inventory the best we can, we need to have a trace of the transaction, which is why we always ask you to do the proper checkout via the website.
Who are you?
My name is Jonathan and I run Johnythecat Records with my wife, Sonia.
We are an online record store based in Montreal, Canada. We like to call it an “accidental living room business” because it got started purely for fun.
I do the purchasing, shipping and customer support, and Sonia does the techie stuff like this website.
We value connection, enjoyment and mindfulness. Sitting down and listening to a vinyl record is like our meditation practice.
